Royal Theater. Situated close to the Heerlen train station, this egg shaped building dates back to 1938 and was one of the oldest cinemas of the Netherlands. [1] It was designed by Frits Peutz (best known for the Glaspaleis) and J. Bongaerts. The buildings behind it are from a later date and include another building by Peutz ( Rivoli, 1958).

The Royal Theater is a former cinema in the center of Heerlen and dates from 1938. The Royal Theater was designed by Frits Peutz and J. Bongaerts. Originally there were almost 1,200 seats available in the Royal Theater, later these seats were reduced to around 700 to create more legroom. After a renovation in 2010, the total number of seats has been reduced to approximately 600.
